Famine looms in South Sudan

The UN is predicting that an imminent famine resulting from the ongoing conflict in South Sudan could cost the lives of upwards of 50,000 children under the age of five before the end of 2014.

As well as our operations on the ground in South Sudan, GOAL is delivering nutrition and medical care to 50,000 refugees in the recently established Kule camp in the Gambella region of Ethiopia.

GOAL’s media officer Davy Adams has recently returned from a trip to the camp and wrote about his experiences in thejournal.ie this week. Click here to read his account and watch a video highlighting life in the camps.
